On our way back from South Africa we had a long layover in New York, so we took it as an opportunity to visit Ground Zero. I forgot about these pictures for a while and never published them, but I just rediscovered them on my hard drive.
Demolition
Crews work to clear the wreckage.
Condolences
The immediate area around the WTC site is filled with signs of caring.
Smoldering
I took this picture on December 2nd, nearly three months after the attack. The building is still smoking.
Distance
Even from far distances, the WTC site is visible.
Reflections
A reflection of the WTC rubble in a neighboring building.
Time Standing Still
The attack happened at 9:40 in the morning, and this clock hasn't worked since.
Financial Ruin
New York's financial district has these banners attached to all the street lights. Many of them around the WTC were dammaged by shrapnel.
