Papa wanted a playset for The Boy. Papa decided to go big, which meant a lot of help from some of my more handy friends to actually get it installed. Here are some shots of the construction process.
The Planning Begins
Erick and Dan look over the plans while Abey and Ethan think, "do they really know what they're doing?"
Jigsaw Puzzle
Lots of big heavy pieces. How do they fit together?
First Hole
Chris works on the first hole.
That's More Like It
We prepare the groundhog 9000.
Arrrg
Is that a pirate growl, Erick?
Relax
Abey, Jacob and Megan relax and watch the rest of us sweat.
Hey, This is Fun
Jacob realizes he's the center of attention.
Jack Rabbit
Abey jumps in, then out of the hole in one shot.
Jack Rabbit
Abey jumps in, then out of the hole in one shot.
Deep
Getting the dirt out of the deeper holes is a bit tricky.
Chris's Turn
Chris takes a turn digging out the holes.
Ethan Peekin'
Ethan can fit right inside.
Vertical
Hey, some of the playset is finally vertical.
Level
Perfectly level, that is.
Beer Break
Erick stops to recharge.
Don't Breathe
Everything is up...now all we need is concrete before the wind blows it over.
Concrete
Dan has the biggest grin on his face. Today we poured over 1000lbs of concrete. More comes tomorrow.
Just the Right Mix
Erick adds just the right amount of water.
Dump
Into the first hole we go. That first hole takes A LOT of concrete.
All of It
Dan works to make sure we got it all.
What's in There
Cole checks out the cement mixer. Day two was a little wet. Notice that Cole's level never leaves his grasp.
Hangin'
Cole approves of theh play structure. He verifies that it is level.
Can I Have a Ride
Cole waits patiently for someone to give him a ride.
The Last One
I scrape out the last bit of concrete.
Hand Prints
Cole adds his prints and signature.
Yuck
What's this stuff on my hands.
Signature
Cole adds his signature.
Art
The artist is finished with his masterpiece.
King Of Playground
It's good to be the king.
Prints
Cole wanted all of our prints.
Diggin
Everyone takes a turn on the Ground Hog. Wouldn't you?
Just About Right
Jacob is just the right height to check hole depth.
