We got the camping bug and decided to trek to the Olympic Peninsula. We had no real reason for choosing this site, except that it is only about three hours away. So we loaded up the 'Beamer for a bit of quality Kar Kamping and headed out west.
While camping was fun and we ate plenty of burnt flesh, we encountered a sign that stated that just over yonder was the westernmost point in the contiguous US. Definitely need to see that. So, off we went, and we discovered some of the most beautiful and rugged seascapes I've ever seen. Sure, they'd be nicer if the weather wasn't cloudy, bit the gray adds a bit of mystery and sorrow. So come along and check it out!
Firewood Quest
Danna, gathering firewood for our camp fire. Look damp? It is. Starting a fire was a bit of a challenge.
Bump In The Water
Bump in the water. She doesn't want to go for a dip.
Bump On A Log
Bump on a log.
Waterfall
Cool waterfall. This one drops down into a chanel that opens out into the stream below.
Cave
The coastline is filled with deep caves like this, where wildlife is abundant. A sign at the end of the trail said that these caves are hammered out of the rock by the waves, and on strong days you can stand on top and feel the ground shake. No thanks.
The Real West Coast
This is the westernmost portion of the contiguous united states. Or "west coast" as I like to call it. Very rocky, and I don't see may places to setup a volley ball net.
Puffins
Puffins. Puffins with red feet. And a lot of bird crap.
Snuggle Shot
Danna and me. Happy as can be. Wishing it was warmer.
Fishing Boat
A little fishing boat fishing next to the rocks. Quick, give 'em a beer. Gives you some idea of how big the rocks are.
Lighthouse
Look, a lighthouse. Does anyone still live in these? It would be a beautiful place to live, but I'd end up talking to my feet I'd be so bored.
Panorama
Nice panorama of the rocks. It would be really fun to slip around them in a boat. Not a terribly little boat, but maybe a boat with a bar.
Hiding Birds
More birds. These little suckers thought they could hide in the shadows, but I found 'em.
