Dad's Hip Surgery

Brian in Life | 2 Comments August 14, 2003
Dad popped in for surgery at 7:00 in the morning, and by 11:00 he was done and walking. Three hours, and a small three inch incision in his thigh was the only evidence of a new titanium hip lurking below his skin. I'm amazed that something as complicated as a complete hip replacement isn't more invasive.

Hi,
I am about to have hip replacement done and came upon your site. What a selfless contribution! I sincerely thank you. I realize that not all hips or recoveries are the same, but your info, devoid of technical jargon, was most helpful.
Politics? I may be the most confused and frustrated citizen in this country. A life-long, rock-ribbed Republican. Yet, when I hear "W" speak I see a limited intellect. A retard.  A $520 million deficit? Is the man crazy? A trip to Mars? I am a Physicist by education, and I recognize the need for Science for Science's sake, but have we all gone crazy? There is an interesting Planet called Earth and it's needs are becomming critical.
So my Republican Party outspends the Democrats, who field a team of two-bit, blood-sucking politicians and we are left with no choice. The only issue is how high to raise taxes.
Our forefathers rebelled against far less exploitation than we are undergoing (I am a rare book collector and have and read original documents). Be assured, we rebelled for far less.
Hey. Maybe my hip is not the biggest of my problems. Sorry about the rant, but I had to tell you how impressed I am
with your decency and humanity in sharing your experience with me and I simply lost control. In any case, Bless You.

Thanks for the comments!  In case you're wondering, my dad is doing great.  He recently went hunting and hiked four miles through the woods.  Take care.
